Four works from Yuki Harada’s Shadowing series—Dan, Suzu, Rie, and Tomigoro—have been acquired by the Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto.
Dan features Pidgin translation and narration by Dwayne Mukai of the Hawaii Island Kumamoto Kenjin-kai, while Suzu and Rie are based on autobiographical writings by Barbara F. Kawakami, who was born in Kumamoto. Together with Tomigoro, which speaks of a “boat with a crooked rudder,” the works form a composition in which voices originating in Kumamoto resonate dynamically.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who who supported this acquisition.
