KEN NAKAHASHI is pleased to present Mihoko Ogaki’s solo exhibition Beyond The Time, from January 6th, Saturday to February 3rd, Saturday, 2024.

Ogaki has been expressing human life and death using a variety of techniques, including sculpture, installation, drawing, video and performance.

Ogaki says she continues to ask the question: 'How do we express a world in which each of us is an individual and at the same time connected to each other?'

In recent years, Ogaki has been working at a local day service centre, directly touching, looking at and talking to people's bodies with the palm of her hand.

In this exhibition, her fifth at the gallery in three years, Ogaki will present new works from her Milky Way series of sculptures featuring the human body, goats and snakes that emit a galactic light, as well as drawings and prints made using the drypoint technique.

Mihoko Ogaki

Born 1973 in Toyama. 

Graduated Aichi Prefectural University of the Arts with a major in oil painting in 1995.

Studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, Germany, from 1996. 

After working in Germany for about 16 years, returned to Japan in 2010.

Lives and works in Ibaraki.
